IAN KETTERIDGE
Ian Ketteridge is a North-West based Photographer focusing on contemporary social, cultural and environmental issues through documentary, landscape and architectural photography.
He is interested in presenting photography using non-traditional methods, and has previously exhibited in a group show in central Manchester in 2005, displaying a photocube installation of the CIS Building and 18 photographs in found frames. He has also undertaken commissioned work for the British Council and the Proper Job Theatre Company.
The Touchstones Redeye exhibition theme offered Ian the opportunity to investigate and depict the urban environment of Rochdale, specifically the College Bank flats: 'Seven Sisters'. Completed in 1966, these flats were the key to regeneration, and acted as a symbol of progress with the aim of attracting people to Rochdale.
They also provided a solution to the complex issues of town planning and housing design facing architects at the time, and addressed issues such as equality of access, spatial provision and community building.
