RICK SCHOFIELD
Rick was born in Salford. After a City and Guild, he graduated from the University of Bolton with a first class BA honours in Photography and Video. He is based in Bolton, where he works on self-directed projects and commissions from his studio.
Rick believes much of our contemporary life involves using our bodies, personal effects, and the space we occupy to communicate visually. Rather than the traditional portraiture approach, where the photographer imposes a representation through selective use of focus and cropping etc, Rick is interested in allowing the subject to create their own representation.

He chose to photograph some of the other photographers from Everything Equally because he wanted to work with people who were properly informed about the process of image making, and comfortable around the equipment involved, such as lighting.
Framing, lighting and focus were consistent throughout the series, but within this, the sitter was free to arrange the content of the photograph.
