VICTORIA J DEAN
Victoria is a photographic artist based outside Belfast.
She graduated in 2003 with BA (Hons) Photography from Blackpool and the Fylde College, and since leaving college she has been published in the photographic press and has exhibited in a variety of group shows.
She held her third solo show, 'This Transient Life', in October 2006 in the Ards Arts Centre, Newtownards, County Down.
In response to the theme, ‘Everything Equally’, Victoria recorded evidence of the subtle factors influencing the identity of a public space over a six month period. Public spaces are created by town planners, maintained by councils, and are ideologically ‘equal for all’.
In reality these spaces have restrictions of use imposed upon them and this may leave us with a sense of oppression and claustrophobia. This is a continuation of her interest in exploring themes of alienation and isolation, portrayed through place and the human landscape.
